Preamble

When development of RatAlert started in mid-November 2021, the idea of multiple kitchens where you stake your NFTs was born within a single day. However, finding a user journey that makes the user experience pleasant and logical was challenging at first. It took us a couple of weeks to come up with a visual concept that is both beautiful and easy-to-use.

Introducing the Stake Hub Concept

We have developed a visual concept that makes all kitchens accessible in a way that is both graphically appealing and realistic: The Stake Hub.

The Stake Hub

The stake hub is a townhouse that houses all aspects of the game and is based in a Paris-setting.

It contains from top to bottom:

  • The Office: Ability to mint new tokens, view balances and see game stats.
  • LeStake©: Top-tier kitchen, earns $GFOOD (GourmetFood). Accessible only to chefs and rats with a skill / intelligence level of 72%.
  • The StakeHouse©: Mid-tier kitchen, earns $CFOOD (CasualFood). Accessible only to chefs and rats with a skill / intelligence level of 28%.
  • McStake©: Low-tier kitchen, earns $FFOOD (FastFood). Accessible to all chefs and rats.
  • MuscleBox©: Gym, accessible to all chefs and rats that need to blow off some steam.
  • Chef Break Room: Represents your wallet, all your newly minted chefs will appear here.
  • Rat Sewer: Represents your wallet, all your newly minted rats will appear here.

How to mint a NFT

The Office

In the office, you can mint your own NFT characters with $wETH. Additional currencies like $MATIC are still to be decided. Here, you can choose to mint your character straight into the McStake kitchen or your wallet (chef break room / rat sewer). The chances to receive a chef are 90%, rats are 10%.

How to retrieve information on your chefs

Once you have minted a few chefs, you will notice that all the attributes are set to 0%. You can click on the ⓘ-icon to reveal levels and trait information.

Traits for Chef #44

You will notice that Chef #44 skill level is Kitchen Scullion and his freak level is bored at the moment. Stake him at McStake© to gain experience points on a daily basis.

How to retrieve information on your rats

One rat available in the sewer

Once you have minted a rat, you will notice that all the attributes are set to 0%. You can click on the ⓘ-icon to reveal levels and trait information. The rats are staked the same way as chefs, we will only mention chefs for simplicity reasons from now on.

How to stake your chefs

3 Chefs in the Break Room (wallet)

Just click the button on the left that says Stake all chefs and then select the location you’d like to stake them in. You can also select individual chefs and stake them independently in different locations.

How to claim profits and perform upgrades

3 Chefs staked into McStake

Our 3 chefs have been staked at McStake©. You see that they have all earned 10.83 $FFOOD already. You will also notice the countdown on every NFT card. It shows the time left until you can perform your next NFT upgrade.

Whenever the countdown has reached 0, it will show Level up! on the NFTs that are ready to be claimed from.

Claiming profit is easy: Whenever you feel like it, click on Level up & Claim, or select one or more NFTs to claim individually. As long as the countdown has expired, the level upgrade will also be executed. When you claim ahead of the countdown time, you will just get your profit, but the upgrade may not be performed entirely.

Upgrades

The popup image above illustrates the NFT upgrade result. Usually you will earn experience points like skill or intelligence, but you will also receive actual level upgrades (Ingredient taster in this example) that upgrades your NFT visually.

Your claim may have triggered one or more events. Chefs may get paid an unpleasant visit by the food inspector or suffer a burnout. Rats on the other hand may accidentally run into a rat trap or face a close encounter with a cat. Those events will also be displayed in this popup and you can use the Next and Previous buttons to cycle through all your claimed characters.

Goal of the game

The goal of the game is to train your NFTs in a healthy way so you can reach the higher-tier kitchens without going insane (or being kidnapped by a cat). It’s an extremely competitive game as there are only a limited number of kitchens available to purchase. It’s essentially a race to the top: Will you be able to beat the game before anyone else and be able to mint a cat that is the ultimate god-like character? Let the games begin!
